Française d’Images modernises its digital archive with Object Matrix

Boulogne-Billancourt, France, 19 March 2018 – French content provider Française d’Images has extended its use of MatrixStore, a media focused private cloud, to migrate and protect its entire archive.

Française d’Images is tasked with managing broadcast activities for the leading operator of France’s national lottery games, from production to delivery. With a growing catalogue of assets and internal requests, it was becoming increasingly challenging for the group to find the right content and therefore distribute it to the right audience. The sheer volume of content also meant the archive system needed replacing with one that would be scalable, able to grow without compromising security and offer instant access.

Having implemented MatrixStore for production nearline parking in the past, Française d’Images chose to extend its use to manage their entire digital archive.

MatrixStore from Object Matrix provides a media focused private cloud platform that is built upon digital content governance and object storage technology. The solution protects and preserves content throughout its lifespan. It is an AI-ready, automated, secure, and future proof platform that is integrated into existing media workflows and enables customers to consolidate silos of storage, ensuring easy access to content. Object Matrix is represented in France by IVORY.

VIDELIO – Cap’Ciné, a local renowned service provider, did the integration of MatrixStore on the production site of Boulogne-Billancourt, France. The platform, initially used to park production content was extended to strengthen security of content at enterprise level and is now at the heart of the Companies’ business continuity strategy. In fact, Française d’Images leverages the native asynchronous replication feature of MatrixStore to copy assets to another remote MatrixStore cluster hosted on a different site.

Nabil Bouchiba, CTO, Française d’Images, explains: “we were looking for a reliable and scalable solution to digitise our tape archive and streamline the operational costs. Our first experience with MatrixStore was undeniably successful; it is one of the few solutions ensuring such a high level of security and flexibility, combined with a media-oriented API. Having this level of confidence in a solution and being able to rely on it are invaluable, especially when we lead strategic projects like this one.”

Based on Digital Content Governance and Object Storage, MatrixStore allows instant access to the entire archive with very little management or manual intervention and promotes content monetisation. With this platform at the heart of their new strategy and VIDELIO – Cap’Ciné’s support, Française d’Images is now well equipped to perform the digitising of its entire library of legacy content.

Julien Gachot, CEO, IVORY explains: “our conversation with Nabil and his team started on business requirements, pains and how we could potentially help his company to solve those. Clearly, technology decisions now need to satisfy the CEO, CTO, CFO and users alike. We are very honoured to have become a strategic advisor to Française d’Images.”

We will be exhibiting at NAB Las Vegas, April 7th-12th (booth SL5005). Please get in touch to arrange a meeting !
